David Schimmell served as a professional firefighter for
23 years before hanging up his boots and helmet to devote
himself to work in the children's illustration markets. He
honed his talents in advertising firms for 11 years at which
time he was chosen by Abbey Press to illustrate their specialty
gift items and greeting cards. During this time he also illustrated
a half hour Children's Program for Public TV. The program
won awards from the Children's Educational Network of Chicago
and the Ohio State University Cultural Award. David has produced
materials for the educational, religious and mass markets
children's markets.
Born and raised in Evansville, IN, he lives there today
with his wife, 2 sons, 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters.
